When golden hour reaches you, you are part of something bigger than yourself. You remember what it felt like to run around outside as a kiddo; you remember happy times in nature. Sunshine is a reminder of beautiful simplicity. Erica, David, and all of their loved ones were hugged by the sun’s warmth during their ceremony at The Evergreen in Portland, Oregon.
The Evergreen is a historic wedding venue in Northeast Portland, and it’s the perfect indoor wedding venue. Large windows provide natural light, inviting the outdoors to dance inside. The simple, natural space is timeless, and it celebrates the original 1908 architecture of the building. I'm a Portland wedding photographer, and this venue is one of my favorites in Portland.

For their vows, there wasn’t an audience. No performance. Erica and David.. just as they were.. reading love letters to each other. You could hear the nuance in their voices and see it on their faces.. adoration and excitement and quietness. What an honor to be there to capture the moments they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. Erica said it was her favorite part of the day.
And after the ceremony.. something I've witnessed more than once!: this group of friends is SO on top of tequila shots right after the ceremony! They pull the limes and salt out of thin air, seriously. A mini party upstairs with friends before joining everyone else downstairs. Next was cocktail hour in Loyal Legion— a dark, quintessential Portland beer hall. Drinks were passed, and hugs were shared— this was the perfect way to offer a different experience to wedding guests. The day ended with a lovely reception filled with toasts and tears and a special dance with Dad.
It's funny to think that every moment that passes shapes our present selves, but it's true.. and all of us that celebrated Erica and David are a little different now than before. Thank you, E and D, for allowing our hearts to grow a little bigger. I truly think the world of you.
